WHAT’S ON FOR THE FLOWMIES?

Winter is Passing

28-31 July
Tauranga (Aongatete Lodge)

Winter is Passing is on this weekend in Tauranga! A juggling focused mid-winter festival to warm you up with juggling and passing during the day, and evenings loaded with board games in front of a toasty fire with friends both new and old. We’d love to hear the tales of your experience if you’re heading to Winter is Passing this weekend!

Circulation Festival

23-27 Nov
Dunedin (Whare Flat)

Circulation is a music, workshop and circus performance festival just out of Dunedin. They boast a strong community focus and a child friendly environment. Each day is bursting with workshops and each night is a riot of live music and performances. They also have an open fire spinning circle every night and anyone (after attending a fire safety briefing) is welcome to have a burn.

STAY SPINFORMED!

It’s commonly believed that juggling sticks were used in ancient China over 2000 years ago, although there is no hard proof of this. Legend has it that a troupe of Tibetan performers played in front of the Emperor and he was so blown-away by their stick play that he proclaimed there must be a devil spirit giving the stick a life of its own, thus the name ‘devil sticks’.

Did you know, the first image of juggling sticks dates all the way back to 1820?!

Check out our article ‘What in the Devil are These Sticks?!’ for all you need to know about this twisting, twirling, trickster trio of sticks.

Here’s what Nicky from Canterbury thinks about our devil sticks:

"Easy peasy from ordering to arrival. Beautiful sticks, packaged well. They are used every day by 3 generations - age 7-66 in our whānau who absolutely love the challenge and satisfaction of throwing, tossing and catching ... and the dropping! Cheers all round when the little ones toss and flip. Thanks so much!"

Cheers Nicky - how awesome that the whole whānau enjoys them!
